Travel to Deep Creek Lake

Deep Creek Lake is a gorgeous, vibrant region nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. We want all those traveling from near and far to have a smooth journey. Please look at the travel and transportation options laid out below.

For those who are attending who are flying in, there are a few options to get you here! Our top recommendation would be to fly into Pittsburgh International Airport or BWI- Thurgood Marshall Airpot. You can also fly into Reagan International Airport (DCA) or Dulles International Airport (IAD). From any of these options, you will have to either rent a car or schedule a shuttle to get out to the lake (please read below for more information).

For all of our architecture-loving friends and family, we suggest flying into/out of the Pittsburgh International Airport as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater is a good halfway point between Pittsburgh and Deep Creek Lake

Renting a Car: If you are flying in and wanting to spend time exploring all that Deep Creek has to offer, we highly recommend renting a car. A car rental can be picked up from any airport listed above. Please note that if you are wanting to return the car while in Garrett County for any reason, the only return option available in the area is through Enterprise.

Whether you are making the drive from your home, or renting a car and driving from the airport, Deep Creek Lake is easy to get to via car! From Pittsburgh the lake is roughly 90 miles, or about two hours. From the Baltimore area your journey will take about two and half hours. From Washington, DC you can expect the drive to take roughly three hours. Each route is full of gorgeous views, cute small towns, and great spots to stop off!

Transportation

Once you arrive, we will have organized transportation for the welcome party and the wedding day. Check back here as we get closer to the big day for more information on these services. Bus pick ups will be from central points, we aimed to accommodate as many guests as possible. If your rental home or hotel is not listed as a pick up point, please feel free to meet at Suites at Silver Tree or the Blakeslee club house (30 N Blakeslee Rd, Oakland, MD 21550).

Ubers and taxis are not in abundance in Garrett County, Maryland, please keep this in mind while making your travel plans. In lieu of Uber/Lyft and taxis, there is a shuttle service that uses its own app! Please use the attached link to download the app where you can reserve rides in advance, or schedule rides in real time once you need a ride - just like Uber. Please note that there may be additional wait times if rides aren’t scheduled in advance because of demand around event times. Side note: your ride will also come with his two black labs as companions during the trip! please keep this in mind while making your travel plans.
